How Bayen handles your data

Who we are

This service is run by Bayen. For anything about your data, write to privacy@bayen.co.

What we collect

• Your mobile number, to sign you in and send your codes and receipts. We store it encrypted.
• Your choice for each event (Hide me, Find me or no choice) and when you made it.
• Your consent to the use of your selfie, and when you gave it.
• One selfie per event, only if you choose Hide me or Find me.
• Face data made from that selfie, used only to recognise you in that event's photos.
• For organizers: a work email and the organization's name. We store the email encrypted.
• If you write to us through the form on our home page: your email, and your name and organization if you give them, with the time and language. These are kept in a Google Sheet run by Google, outside our encrypted storage in Saudi Arabia.
• One cookie keeps you signed in and one remembers your language. On our home page and this page, Google Analytics runs only if you choose Allow. It then sets its own cookies to count visits. Change your choice anytime with "Analytics choice" under Your choices and rights. No advertising cookies.

Why we use it

• Hide me: to blur or remove you in every published photo of that event, group shots included. Each event decides blur or remove with its camera crew.
• Find me: to find your photos and put them in a private gallery that only you can open.
• Your number: only to sign you in and send codes and receipts. Never for marketing.
• We use your selfie and face data only with your consent. You can withdraw it at any time, and we then delete them.
• We never sell your data or use it for anything beyond the event.

Who can see it

• Event organizers see counts only, such as how many attendees chose Hide me. Never your name, number, selfie or face data.
• Photographers see nothing about you. If you choose Hide me, you can wear an opt-out badge so they avoid close-ups of you.
• Faces are matched inside Bayen. Face data never leaves it.

Where it is stored

Selfies, face data and event photos are stored encrypted in Saudi Arabia. Photos that photographers share from Google Drive are copied into that storage before any processing.

How long we keep it

• Selfies and face data: deleted 30 days after the event ends, or sooner if you withdraw.
• Find me gallery links: 7 days.
• Your number and your choices: until you delete your data.
• Contact form details: deleted 12 months after your last message, or sooner if you ask.

Your choices and rights

• Change or withdraw your choice for any event in My events.
• Delete all your data in My events, under Your data. We send a deletion receipt by WhatsApp.
• For a copy of your data or any other request, write to privacy@bayen.co.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle your data, we update this page and the date at the top.
